We love to stay active and we want you to do the same. Here are 4 Simple Ways To Walk 10,000 Steps Daily.
01. Wake Up Earlier
Mornings offer a love hate relationship with people. There are those who love the mornings and others who hate the mornings. Getting up early can be it’s own challenge. Whether it’s body chemistry or genetics, some people just have problems waking up early and the idea of exercising is furthest from their minds. So how does one get over the symptoms of being a late riser? The key is to make the transition from the bedroom to the world outside the bedroom as easy as possible.
For those that need a little more nudging, we have some great tips.
- Use an Alarm Clock and keep it Out Of Arms Reach – You’re less likely to hit the Snooze button if you have to get out of bed.
- Go To Bed Earlier – Waking up early may involve going to bed earlier than usual. Knowing how many hours you need to sleep will help you evaluate what time you should go to bed.
- Set Your Cloths Out The Night Before – There is something powerful in being prepared. Setting out workout cloths gets you mentally prepared for the next morning.
- Love The Mornings – Find the beauty of the mornings. Don’t let negativity ruin a perfect day.
02. Tell It To The World
Talk is cheap, but telling friends, family and co-workers how you are going to become more fit can go a long way. After all, do you really want to look like one of THOSE PEOPLE who says one thing and does something else? Talk about embarrassing. We like to think that telling friends and family will help MOTIVATE you. Your friends, family and co-workers (at least the ones that like you), want you to succeed. They may even want to get involved in doing the same thing. In any case they will probably cheer you on. So let the world know what you’re doing.
03. Make The Time
Do you know why obesity has been on the rise? Simply put people aren’t using their time wisely. They sit at their desk browsing the internet, they sit on the couch watching tv, they make bad choices when it comes to eating healthy and they don’t effectively manage their OWN time. A key to getting fit and staying fit is time management. Learning to get the most out of the day by learning where you are wasting time.
Realistically to achieve 10,000 Steps Daily boils down to about 1 hour to 1.5 hours of walking. The good news is it doesn’t have to be all at once. You can break it up into segments and do a little bit at a time. You can also multi task and do 2 or more things at once. Think about those moments where you are sitting around or just twiddling your thumbs, maybe you could go for a walk instead.
The only limiting factor is time and what you do with it. If you don’t allow for enough time, you’re not going to achieve your goal. Take a good look at where you are wasting time and see how you can more effectively use it.
04. Reward Yourself
Who doesn’t like to reward themselves? I mean really, rewards are…well rewarding. So how does one go about rewarding themselves? It basically boils down to “If I do something good, I will get something good”. Now of course many of you might be thinking along the lines of food, but realistically it can be anything and probably shouldn’t be food driven.
Let me give you an example. If I walk to the grocery store, I can get a brownie. Hmmm maybe that isn’t a good example. How about this. If I walk the dog for 30 minutes, I can watch a movie or If I walk to a friends house, I can later buy a book that I have been wanting.
Here are some fun rewards that will motivate you.
- Buy something fitness related, like running shorts or running shoes or workout equipment
- Day at the Spa
- Buy something you been wanting for a while.
Now of course you could go overboard, but hopefully you get the idea.
